To use Freewwweb you must have a internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. For the free email account you must have an email program such as Outlook Express or Eudora. And obviously, you must have a modem. However, you must first sign up for a Freewwweb account.

Why pay $15.00 to $30.00 per month for internet access and email when you can get it for free? Why put up with pop up ads, resume buttons, and banner ads?

COMMON QUESTIONS:

1. No pop-ups or advertising? What's the catch?

No catch. The only requirement is that your start-up home page must be the Freewweb home page. The Freewwweb home page has links to many areas of interest, and displays the advertising. Click here to see the home page. Be sure to click your browser's back button to return to this page. This advertising is how Freewwweb obtains it's revenues. Once you're on the net, you're free to go anywhere on the internet.

2. Can I access my account from anywhere?

Yes and no. If you travel frequently you can access your account from any city that has a local dial in phone number. Just create a new dial in location on your computer, and use the local number. If the City does not have a local dial in phone number, you would incur long distance telephone charges to dial the number.

3. Is this one of those 100 hours free type offers, after which I start incurring a fee?

No. It's free, forever. No credit card needed. No bank drafts. No wire transfers. Nada.

4. Can I still use ICQ, AOL Buddy list, and other such programs?

Yes. These programs should work without any modifications.

5. Does Freewwweb provide web space?

Freewwweb provides web space for a nominal charge. Or, you can use any of the other services that provide free web pages, such as GeoCities, BizLand, etc...

6. I'm not comfortable changing settings on my computer. Is there another way?

Yes. Use the "automatic sign up and setup," or you can purchase a CD-ROM that will perform all needed setup options for you. It will even setup your local dial up number, so everything is ready to go. The CD-ROM includes Netscape Communicator. The CD-ROM is $9.95, including shipping within the USA. For priority shipping, add $3.50 (plus any applicable sales tax). The CD-ROM is yours to keep. You can use it to install Freewwweb on as many computers as you want, including those of friends and co-workers! For a CD-ROM, click here.

7. What is required of me?

Sign up, set up your account. You must use your account at least 10 hours per month for the first 6 months. You are allowed 80 hours of connection time per month. If you need more connection time, see the FAQ below to set up multiple accounts.

8. If everything is free, is there a hidden charge on the dial up number?

No. The dial up numbers are standard telephone numbers. If you selected a phone number that is a local call for you, you'll never see any type of additional charges for using that dial up number.
